My Art Story
I'm a Pittsburgh-based artist who's spent my whole life chasing the next thing I don't know how to make yet.
My first real art education started as a teenager, in classes at the Carnegie Museum and Carnegie Mellon University's pre-college program. But if you ask me, that was just the beginning — I've never stopped being a student of art. I'm endlessly curious about new mediums, new techniques, new ways of seeing, and I chase that curiosity into the studio every day.
Watercolor is the medium I've stuck with the longest, but lately my studio is overtaken by something I call "painting with paper" — a mixed-media process built around giving old, forgotten materials a second life. I love upcycling and repurposing what already exists into something new. There's something about taking what's been discarded and making it beautiful again that I can't get enough of.
WHY I TEACH
For the past 17 years, I've taught art to my community — and it's genuinely one of my favorite things in the world. I come alive in a classroom, because I get to prove something I believe deeply: talent isn't something you're born with. It's something you build.
All it takes is the desire to try, the courage to try again when it doesn't work the first time, and the willingness to seek out what you need to know. My dream is simple: I want to help as many people as possible find the artist that's already inside them.
My Philosophy
Art gets us through the day. It helps us move through the world a little more gently, a little more joyfully. I believe adulting doesn't have to mean giving up creativity and play. In fact, I think we need it now more than ever.
